Compensation: $3095/ mth
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for supervision and oversight of Head Start classrooms to support staff in delivery of services in keeping with Head Start Performance Standards and State Licensing. Responsible for implementation of family services at the site level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITITES:
- Ensure an efficient and consistently high quality operation that supports team growth and strong staff and family relationships.
- Provide training, coaching and staff development to influence and motivate staff to achieve goals and objectives and meet expectations.
- Complete performance appraisals, training plans and monthly 1:1 meetings to support employee growth and development and improve service delivery. Administer corrective action process when necessary.
- Participate in the interview and selection process of center based staff.
- Coordinate work plans to ensure adequate site staffing.
- Ensure weekly site/team meetings occur as established with RPM.
- Oversee safe and healthy work environment, including safe work practices and healthy and safe working conditions. Conduct routine safety inspections.
- Ensure comprehensive delivery of services at site by coordinating integration of all Head Start program areas, including: health, nutrition, dental, family services, parent involvement, mental health, education, and disabilities. Monitors classroom activities and curriculum to meet the performance standards and other regulations.
- With input from the Teacher 1, ensure curricula and activities in the classroom are developmentally and culturally appropriate and child-focused, meet individual educational needs of children and consider children with special needs or disabilities.
- Ensure community partner/IEP meetings and appropriate follow up occur.
- Convey information about individual child development and available resources to families of children through calls, letters, conferences and regular visits.
- Work with Community Advocates when necessary as designated by parent/child need and/or workload dictates, as coordinated with RPM.
Family Services
- Promote family partnerships and parent involvement in program planning, implementation of services, and individualization of services for their children through parent activities and committee involvement and volunteering in the classroom. Provides guidance, instruction and training to parents and volunteers.
- Develop and distribute minutes of center parent group meetings. Assists parents in developing skills for participation on the Policy Council.
- Working with parents/guardians, develop Family Partnership Agreements, complete family assessments, surveys and program evaluations. Guide families in establishing action plans by exploring options and helping to set goals.
- Assist families in linking to community resources. Supports parents in scheduling medical and dental appointments and maintaining health updates. Assists in the development, updating and distribution of community resource information.
- Lead case management. Determine current family strengths and needs by gathering information through home visits and other family contacts. Receive medical, psychological and social information, and analyze results to determine follow up needs.
- Track late enrolled families to ensure 45/90 day requirements are met.
- Assists with recruitment and enrollment process.
Monitoring and Record Keeping
- Coordinate and ensure completion of screening requirements and developmental assessments of children at site.
- Compile and keeps current child and family documentation of home visits, referrals, services, etc. Safeguard confidentiality of personal information of children and families by upholding mandates and policies.
- Track attendance for staff and families. Secure appropriate documentation of excused absences, and follows up with families with chronic attendance problems.
- Order supplies, request maintenance and complete other tasks necessary to ensure an efficient and well run site.
- Document all team, site, and one-one-one meetings; include appropriate action plan and monitor for completion.
Training/Networking
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, supervisory training, reviewing publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional groups.
- Further relationships within site, position, region, agency and community to ensure integrated and comprehensive services for families with children.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- AA/AS/BA degree preferred. Original or certified copies of all credentials or certificates and college transcripts indicating applicable coursework to meet requirements of the position are required.
- Two years supervision experience preferred (required for Site Supervisor II).
- Must have demonstrated ability to:
- Experience in conflict resolution
- Familiarity of adult learning styles
- Strong communication, organization and time management skills
- Ability to relate to families and children from diverse cultural, social and economic backgrounds
- Experience with MS Word, email and internet preferred.
- Required by program standards:
- TB test within 60 days and medical exam no later than 1 year old from hire date.
- Fingerprinting, Child Abuse Index Check, Criminal Record clearance upon hire.
- California Driver’s License and reliable vehicle with required insurance and a good driving record.
- CPR and First Aid Certificates (within 3 months of hire) and at least 15 hours of accredited health and safety training.
- Original or certified copies of all credentials or certificates and college transcripts indicating applicable coursework to meet requirements of position.
- Reporting of any suspected child abuse, as required by state law.
